Itinerary
Day 01: Arrive in Ulaanbaatar
Welcome to Ulaanbaatar, the capital city of Mongolia and check-in to the hotel after immigration. Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight at Ulaanbaatar.
Day 02: Flight to Gobi Desert – Bayanzag
After breakfast check-out from the hotel and transfer to Air-port for a flight to The Gobi Desert. Upon arrival, depart to the Bayanzag which means ‘rich in saxaul shrubs’. Once it was an ancient sea bed. This amazing place is more commonly known as ‘Flaming Cliffs’ and is where many Paleontological findings have been discovered. American paleontologists led by Roy Chapman Andrew’s findings here proved to the world that dinosaurs laid eggs. Overnight at Tourist camp.
Day 03: Khongor Sand Dunes
Today after breakfast, your excursion will start at the extraordinary Khongor Sand Dune the largest and most breathtaking sand dune in Mongolia. The sand dunes make you feel extraordinary comfort and infinite peace. In the evening, visit the local camel herder family in their ger, and experience their nomadic lifestyle and ride a camel to explore the area. Next is the beautiful green oasis of Seruun Bulag near the Khongor River and sand dunes. Then, climb up to the highest point of the sand dunes called Singing Dune. Overnight at the tourist camp.
Day 4: Visit Yol Valley
After breakfast, we will proceed to Yol valley (also called Yolyn Am & Eagle valley) in the hot Gobi Desert, which shows unusual scenery. At Yolyn Am, you will do pleasant hiking to reach the end of the gorge with thick ice layers throughout the year. Surrounding mountains are home to Argali, Ibex, and many birds of prey, as well as numerous small rodents. Later overnight stay at Dalanzadgad town.
Day 05: Fly back to Ulaanbaatar – Terelj National Park
After breakfast, transfer to the local airport and fly back to Ulaanbaatar. Upon arrival at the city airport, you will be driven to Terelj National Park, the nearest and the most breathtaking sightseeing from the capital Ulaanbaatar first, you will explore the National Park and take a little drive to see Turtle Rock – the symbol of the National Park. You can climb on the rock if you want. Also, visit the Ariyabal meditation temple – Once you reach the temple and stand on the top of a hill, you will be amused by the whole park view. Overnight stay at Tourist Camp.
Day 06: Genghis Khan’s Statue Complex – Ulaanbaatar city tour
After breakfast, you will return to Ulaanbaatar. On the way visit the “Genghis Khan Statue Complex” which is currently the biggest (40m high) equestrian statue in the world. You can go inside and enjoy museums, and souvenir shops. In the afternoon, continue to explore the city and visit the largest glorious Gandan monastery and capture the monks’ daily rituals. Continue to visit the Museum of Mongolian National History – It provides an excellent overview of the history and culture of Mongols from prehistory to the contemporary era. Later visit Sukhbaatar square which lies at the heart of the city. The Mongolian Parliament Building stands in the north of the square, displaying an astonishing sight of Genghis Khaan and his warriors’ sculptures. Afterward, visit Zaisan Memorial Hill a popular tourist attraction and one of the highlights of Ulan Baatar because of the fantastic views it offers over the city. Later transferred to the hotel for your overnight stay.
Day 07: Flight to Murun, Northern Mongolia- Khuvsgul Lake National Park
Today, after breakfast check-out from the hotel and transferred to the city airport for the flight to Murun, which is the town center of Khuvsgul Province. Upon landing at Murun airport you will be taken to Khuvsgul Lake, which is known as the Switzerland of Mongolia and the second clearest lake in Central Asia. Later drive to the Khatgal village on the shore of the lake and visit the village market and main port of the lake. Upon arrival at the tourist camp, you will explore the National Park.
Day 08: Full day at Khuvsgul Lake National Park
Enjoy a delicious breakfast and after that you will take an exciting boat trip on the crystal clear Khuvsgul lake to meet reindeer herders and explore their daily life not traveling far on rough roads and riding horses for several days to the remote Taiga. Here are great opportunities to do hiking along the shore or bicycle, which you can hire from the camp or climb to the mountain. Overnight at a camp.
Day 09: Fly back to Ulaanbaatar
Early this morning, you will return to Murun town and take a return flight to Ulaanbaatar. On the way, you will visit Uushig ancient Deer Stone Monument, other wonders of the Khuvsgul region. This is most clearly depicted by deer stones left behind by bronze-age men. If time permits, you will also visit a local market to experience small-town daily life. Upon arrival at the city airport, transferred to the hotel.
Day 10: Departure
After breakfast, check-out from the hotel and transferred to the airport for your flight to your next destination.
