Itinerary

Welcome to Budapest. After completing Immigration and Custom Formalities and baggage collection you will be met by Global Holidays Tour Manager at Arrival Hall and proceed to hotel. Hungary is a treasure trove of architectural masterpieces - from Roman ruins and medieval town houses to baroque churches, neoclassical public buildings and Art Nouveau bathhouses and schools. There are plenty of charming castles, cobbled streets, magnificent concert halls and old churches. Panoramic city tour of Budapest with the most interesting and famous sights of the Hungarian capital, like House of Parliament, Castle District, Citadel, Andrássy Avenue, St. Stephen's Basilica, Opera House and Heroes' Square. See all the wonderful sights of Budapest; the nicest squares, monuments and churches of the city and the unique panorama of the river Danube!

Esztergom was the capital of Hungary from the 10th till the mid-13th century when King Béla IV of Hungary moved the royal seat to Buda. Esztergom is the seat of the prímás (see Primate) of the Roman Catholic Church in Hungary, and the former seat of the Constitutional Court of Hungary. The city has the Keresztény Múzeum, the largest ecclesiastical collection in Hungary. Its cathedral, Esztergom Basilica is the largest church in Hungary. Szentendre is a riverside town in Pest County, Hungary, near the capital city Budapest. It is known for its museums (most notably the Open-Air Ethnographic Museum), galleries, and artists. Later, proceed for Budapest Danube Boat Tour and explore Budapest’s most beautiful sights from the boat.

Timisoara - where we will learn about Timisoara's fascinating history and visit its main sights and landmarks. Walk through the city's main squares (Union, Victory, Liberty) and admire the restored Art Nouveau and Baroque architecture. Pass by Timisoara's major landmarks and find out about their significance: Orthodox Cathedral, Opera Square, City Hall. Next, we drive to Hunedoara where you will visit Corvin Castle, also known as Hunyadi Castle or Hunedoara Castle, which one of the most beautiful medieval castles in the world. Arrival in Sibiu. Overnight in Sibiu.

After breakfast, we will drive to Sibiu. In Sibiu we will visit the main cultural objectives like: The Evangelical Church, the Liar’s Bridge, The Council Tower, The Brukenthal Museum and The Small Square with “the eyes of the city”. In a tour of the magnificent, still inhabited, citadel we visit the main cultural objectives: The Clock Tower; the birth house of Vlad the Impaler; the Stag House. We will climb the 177 steps of the Covered Staircase, until we arrive at the Church on the Hill. We drive to a small village - Viscri (in German Deutsch-Weisskirch) where we will find out more about the „Mihai Eminesu Trust" and it's restauration project. Viscri is an abandoned village which now comes back to life. In this village Prince Charles of U.K. has a house.

City tour of Brasov - a medieval city, founded in 12-th century. Sightseeing tour of the really good preserved historical city center with the big square, the old city-hall, and the Black Church - the main Gothic style monument in the country. We will discover the castle of Dracula and the truth behind the legend. The castle was built in 1377 to safeguard the trading route between Transylvania and Wallachia, enlarged and restored a few times to become a royal residence in the 1920s under Queen Marie of Romania. The Royal Family`s favourite city (Sinaia) will be our next visit. The gateway to wild nature is possible here, a mountain resort known also as „The Pearl of the Carpathians “. This place impresses everyone by the beauty of its landscapes, guarding a treasure of the Romanian history: The Peles Castle, used as a summer residence for the royal family, this monument represents a symbol of elegance and nobility. Overnight in Bucharest.

After breakfast we will have a Panoramic tour of the Romanian capital – the Royal Palace, the University’s Library, the city-Hall and other interesting sights of the city also called “the little Paris” because of the similar architecture style of the buildings. We will visit also the inside of Parliament Palace – the second largest building by surface area in the world after the pentagon in USA. We will be transferred at the Village Museum – the charming open-air museum which reunites original houses that belonged to the Romanian peasants being brought here from all the regions of the country: Transylvania, Oltenia, Dobrogea and Moldavia.
Moreover, the village museum hosts many traditional fairs, where you can find traditional food and crafts. And when it comes to souvenirs, here is definitely the most inspiring place from where you can buy authentic and hand-made for you and your beloved ones. Located near the Village Museum, we will walk to Herastrau Park (has an area of 74 hectares), that is considered the most spectacular and the most visited park in Bucharest. Here we will enjoy a steamboat ride and we will have the lunch at a local restaurant on the lake.

After breakfast we will cross the Danube you will meet the Bulgarian guide in Ruse - the first Bulgarian city with European appearance, also called the "little Vienna". The city is also the main Bulgarian port, located on the bank of Danube River. Together with the Bulgarian guide you will departure to the Rusenski Lom River Valley. Visit Rock Churches of Ivanovo (XII-XIV c) – an UNESCO object, famous for its unique frescoes. In the afternoon you will have a city tour of Veliko Tarnovo with visit to the historical hill Tsarevets with the Fortress, the Patriarchal church and the Emperor Baldwin's Tower.

After an early breakfast - transfer to the village of Arbanassi famous for its ancient, richly decorated churches and magnificent architecture. It used to be a residence of the Bulgarian kings. After that leave for Etara Open-Air Museum, where you will discover over 300 years of Bulgarian tradition. Continue to Kazanluk, capital of the Valley of the Roses, to learn about the production of Bulgarian rose oil followed by a visit to the 4th century Thracian Kazanlak Tomb. In the late afternoon arrive in Plovdiv and, after check-in at your hotel, discover the city's highlights on a walking tour through the beautiful Old Town and marvel at the 18th century Bulgarian architecture, visit the Ethnographical Museum, one of the museum-houses in the old city, the St. Constantine and Elena church, the Antique Theatre (in use today) and the Roman Stadium.
Overnight in Plovdiv.

After breakfast - set off to Rila Monastery (X c.)- the biggest Bulgarian spiritual center since the Middle Ages till nowadays, included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. It’s located in a picturesque mountain area. The Rila Monastery has rich collection of icons and wall-paintings. Its museum keeps a real treasure: a wooden cross of just 81 cm height, carved with 104 religious scenes and 650 figures. After lunch in a local restaurant continue on to Sofia with an evening at leisure. Overnight in Sofia.

After breakfast - embark on a panoramic city tour of Bulgaria’s capital. Highlights include the 5th century St. Sofia Basilica, National Parliament, the ruins of the Roman Serdica and the St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral. In the afternoon you have free time to further explore Sofia with a wander through the Vitosha Art Boulevard, with its boutiques, shops and cafes. Overnight in Sofia.
